Damn Consultants

Consultants have a bad reputation with salaried workers, who see them as overpaid and stealing the best work. So they don't always understand why those consultants get to do work in their company. Conversely, many of those salaried workers want to become consultants so they can make the big bucks, but as i'm setting out to show you, it's actually nowhere near as much money or fun as what most people think. Here's a look at the pros and cons of consulting, from the point of view of a consultant and that of a company giving them a call. The first section deals with you as a current employee who's either pissed off that your company hires consultants, or is thinking that he'll make the jump to consulting so he can make the big bucks (here's the spoiler: don't). The section after should be required reading for any company who thinks consultants are expensive or not worth it.

Billet d'un stagiaire chez akoha

Maxime, un stagiaire qui a passé sa session d'hiver avec nous chez akoha, a écrit un court billet sur son expérience. 2 de nos stagiaires d'hiver reviennent à l'automne, ce qui est bien sûr génial. J'espère que tout se passe bien pour eux dans leur retour aux études! Nous serons très heureux de les revoir à l'automne.

the quest for interns

Originally posted on the akoha blog. So we hired 3 interns in January, for a 4 month coop: Malini from Waterloo, Daniel from ÉTS and Maxime from Sherbrooke University. We weren't sure what the response would be to an apprentice ninja posting from a brand new, completely unknown startup. Back in November/December when we posted those jobs, we didn't even have a blog, all we had was a bare website announcing something would come.
